Rant ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Rant platform, including our website and services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using Rant, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Email address and password when you create an account
- Username, profile picture, and bio you set on your profile
- Content you post: controversies, debate audio, comments
- Payment information when subscribing to Rant Pro (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)
Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate location (country/region)
- Browser type, operating system, and device type
- Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the Platform
- Referring URLs
Live debate audio
Live debate sessions transmit audio in real time using LiveKit. Audio may be temporarily buffered for transmission. We do not permanently store debate audio unless explicitly stated in a future feature.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the Platform
- To authenticate you and maintain your account
- To send password reset and account notification emails
- To process payments for Rant Pro subscriptions
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms
- To analyze usage trends and improve user experience
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your content to train AI models without explicit consent.
4. Public Content
Content you post publicly on Rant (controversies, debate recordings, profile information) is visible to all users and may be indexed by search engines. Your username and public profile are visible to anyone who visits your profile page. If you post anonymously, your identity is not displayed on that post, but your account is still linked to it internally.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyze Platform usage. Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features may not work correctly without them.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
- LiveKit — real-time audio for live debates
- Stripe — payment processing for Rant Pro
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Vercel — application hosting and CDN
Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of your data. We encourage you to review them.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Public posts you delete are removed from the Platform immediately, though they may persist in backups for up to 90 days.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request we correct inaccurate personal data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format

9. Children's Privacy
Rant is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Users
Rant is operated from the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
